Are Bad Images Omens?

2025, 3D animation, color HD video with sound, 7’45”

In 2023, I took a three-day vacation with my mother at a seaside resort. Due to technical issues with my film camera, most of the negatives shot during that trip were not recognizable. Without these tangible records of our time together, it felt as though much of the memories themselves had faded away. This video emerges from a desire to restore those ephemeral moments through digital means. Using 3D modeling, I recreate the resort where we stayed and fragments of our experiences, not as exact replicas, but as alternates shaped by nostalgia, longing, and the inevitable gaps in memory. The work explores ways to reclaim and reinterpret the past, reflecting on the complexities of memory and its ceaseless meshing with photography.
