Some Rain Must Fall

2022 - ongoing

Amidst the rapid advancement of image-making technology, the photograph, with its unique indexical relation to reality, continues to hold immense value and significance. The indexical quality of the photography – its capacity to bear witness to the physical world and the spatio-temporal relationship between the photographer, the subject, and the moment of capture – imbues the image with a profound emotional resonance.

In this series, I expand photographs into virtual spaces through 3D modeling, reimagining the moment when the shutter was clicked. Rendered in a hyper-realistic style, these digital environments serve as a controlled, idealized realm distinct from physical reality. This process of digital fabrication enables reflection on personal desires and nostalgia while confronting the ambiguities of lived experiences. By bridging the documentary essence of photography with the transformative potential of digital manipulation, the work navigates the tension between presence and projection.
